It was a revelation to me! $1.3 Million Dollars is 2X the $588,734 contribution in 2019, just five years ago. This kind of spending is unsustainable and probably not even necessary.
I have no idea if the requested and/or budgeted amounts for OPVFD are necessary or not. Nor I suspect, does anyone not intimately familiar with their operations - and that would likely include all sitting board members - along with you and me. Then again, you cherry-pick. Last year OPVFD was budged 1 million, give or take. I believe the initial $1.3 million for the coming year may have included $300,000 for equipment, but am not certain. If so, not much difference. Have you even seen the OPVFD proposed budget yet? When Larry Perrone was president he was roundly criticized for objecting to OPVFD throwing in some new full-time staff in the budget, after the fact perhaps. I do not recall all the details, but they are available if you are interested. It was headline news, but I do not recall you cheering Larry on at the time. |
