That said how is the homeowner suppose to know it is an inspector and not someone trying to determine if the house is vacant etc. to steal home owner's property or even take illegal possession.
That looks like a strawman. Surely it should be incumbent on an inspector to notify the owner of intent to access the property or whatever is required by law. I guess the old adage "a man's home is his castle" would no longer apply. Seems like it does not in an HOA. After all, those buying a home in an HOA agree to obey the DRs at settlement. How many buyers even know what they are signing after being told what they are signing? |

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: Marty I agree with you on both counts. I realize we live in an HOA with certain rules. So many questions. That said how is the homeowner suppose to know it is an inspector and not someone trying to determine if the house is vacant etc. to steal home owner's property or even take illegal possession. Does the home owner have to be made aware of the inspection and if so how much notice must be given. What if the home owner is not home who is to ensure the inspectors do violate the rights of the homeowner by opening up storage sheds, looking under cars that are tarped, in windows etc. I guess the old adage "a man's home is his castle" would no longer apply. |
