Amy:
The cost of a referendum is less than 2% and is well spent, in my opinion, on any expense requiring new capital. At One Million Dollars we are asking every member to increase their next assessment by $118.00. As to your timing argument, it might hold water if the pig farm hadn’t been actively on the market for over 10 years. BTW, that “group of residents who vote down anything”, and their vote carries exactly the same weight as yours or mine. I say before we spend their money why not ask them? Marty |

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: A referendum is expensive. A referendum takes a lot of time (not good in today's real estate market). There will always be a set group of residents who vote down anything that they don't use or that is for the future. To hold a referendum on a 200,000 price difference seems counter productive. My suggestion would be for the board to offer 1 million. |
