No parking allowed on Manklin Creek Road in the Pines

(Dec. 1, 2006) Motorists will soon have to refrain from parking on some areas along Manklin Creek Road in Ocean Pines.

The Worcester County Commis­sioners voted unanimously on Nov. 21 to approve a request from the Covenants Committee of The Parke at Ocean Pines for “No Parking” signs in three areas.

Ocean Pines prohibits parking along its streets, but Ocean Pines does not own Manklin Creek Road.  According to the Covenants Committee, many residents parks their vehicles, and contractors park small and large trucks, as well as equipment, along areas of the road, causing damage to the surface and grass.  Because of the damage and the cost to repair it, the committee asked the coun­ty for the “No Parking” signs.  One of the signs will be at the side of the Community Gardens, which is owned by the Ocean Pines Association.  The other two signs are along common areas owned by The Parke and not intended for immediate building development.

At the same meeting, commissioners voted unanimously to include streets, but not two private lanes, in The Parke into the county inventory.
