It just makes good sense to have floor space that the community builds to be accessible for other uses, when that floor space stays idol. Moveable chairs would meet that purpose, but fixed benches do not.
When we consider how popular the children's programs are in OP, why not use that space productively ?????? (when available) Seems that you Ken are also onboard with this idea. We may have often agreed with Joe on many things, but its just human nature to sometimes have varying opinions. Anyhow, best of luck to Joe Reynolds. We deeply appreciate your service to the community. PS The size of attendance in person has been getting very scant, and building costs are steadily rising. Other negative factors. Hmmn |

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: A sure fire way to build little support from the community. Built it for multi use. You obviously do not know what happens in OP. That was the case with the Assateague Room. Unfortunately, OPA began booking events in that room and there came many times when the board could not meet there - even though the board has first divs on any room in OP. However, the board refused to bump any prior event, and the result is there is not a single room in OPA dedicated to the board. The process of making video of board meetings is ridiculous compared to how video is handled by the county at a reasonable cost and does not require bringing in a staff member for every meeting, regardless of day of week, day or night. A dedicate board room is needed. Spend the money for goodness’ sake. It must be dedicated. Don't be petty. Sometimes the Board of Diredctors needs to do what is right for the association long-term, even when the members may not like the idea. This is one of those times. John Kennedy called these sort of votes Profiles in Courage. On a minor scale, certainly, that is exactly what a positive board vote woud be. I ask every board member to step up and vote for a proposal from the General Manager to construct a dedicated board room with bench seats. It will take Courage. Let's see if they have it. Tom Hemmick wants no benches so kids can play in it. Give me a break. |
