![]() ![]() Section 6: ECC/ARC/CPI Subject: More DR Nonsense? Msg# 1226040

How does CPI justify their changes of opinions from year to year. i.e., When I bought the house and CPI inspected the guy who sold it to me.... "That fence was there"
In general, and without knowing specifics, any work accomplished under the Guidelines/DRs should be grandfathered when Guideline changes make that initial work a violation. Also, if someone buys a home that is cleared by a CPI inspection, the new owner should not be given a violation after purchase for something that existed when the sale inspection was approved with no violations. |

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: You do realize that the Guidelines have been updated numerous times (recently last year) so it is not our interpretation but what CPI is now required to enforce. Linda, I complied with your requirements and have the permit. If an electrician puts in one new circuit in 1990 and doesn't pull a permit, it's okay, grandfathered. If a house is filled with r-11/13 insulation in 1990 it is okay, grandfathered. How does CPI justify their changes of opinions from year to year. i.e., When I bought the house and CPI inspected the guy who sold it to me.... "That fence was there" |
