Never had her for a teacher but my sister did and was quite impressed. I don't recall ever seeing her.
I do remember Mr Jersa and also a very young art teacher, Ms. Muratore. There was a 1st or 2nd year art teacher there whose name escapes me. She dressed like a beatnik with black leotards and was very striking. She had a pottery wheel and the kids liked to watch her throw pottery. It was a sloppy undertaking, I remember. She went missing from the faculty mid term and the word on Sefton ave. was that she was fired for flirting with the boys. Change of subject alert My grandmother had a shore house on Seneca Creek where I spent summers. In the early 50s every other shore had a sign "boats for Hire". |

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: I was there at Hamilton JHS in the early 1950's Was MS Winikee a tall teacher and quite fluid talker ? I Had Winikee/ Wincklebleck for home room. But I do recall Mr Hudak was gym teacher. Mr Blum was chemistry. Mr Jersa was metal shop And those days there was an all boys home economics /cooking class where we baked biscuits, etc. And then the girls took wood shop classes. I sang in the glee club there. Some of the older class mates would ride Cushman motor scooters or motor bikes, allowed at ages 14 or 15 in Maryland, but later raised to age 16. In our family, we had our own Evinrude 5 HP outboard motor, and went fishing by renting a rowboat and attaching our outboard motor. Boat Rental places included Dundalk, Salt Peter Creek, Choptank River, Ocean City, etc.
