It's always been the OWL. There's a statue of him overlooking the courtyard where we assembled on nice days.
St John's was the Redmen. I still have teeshirts with that logo, some of whom show a pretty fierce Indian. There is a picture in my yearbook of an undergraduate wearing a headdress and leading the cheers at Madison Square Garden. I copied it and sent it to his administrative asisstant who said she's keep it for blackmail purposes. It was Tom Donahue, the president of the US Chamber of Commerce and a former fraternity brother. |
