![]() ![]() Section 5: OPA Board Subject: Bicycle Lanes on Parkway Msg# 1226416

Just my opinion but reducing the roadway by two feet sounds to me like a recipe for disaster. We already have a number of drivers that have a hard time staying on the paved roadway as evidenced by the tire marks on the grass median. As far as the no parking issue, can you imagine enforcing that rule on a busy holiday weekend? | ||||||

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: I'm not a Civil Engineer but to comply with Maryland law the roadway would probably need an additional eight feet minimum? I don’t believe that is correct. A four-foot bicycle lane is possible. It will require narrowing the existing lined motor vehicle lane by around two feet and police-enforced no-parking regulations on the Parkway, along with a reduction of the speed limit to 30 mph. Will the Board vote for that? I have my doubts. |
