I'm suggesting that patti has an idea for how to make the bike lanes a reality. i don't know what it is because i haven't dug into it, but now i'm really going to have to do the work, reach out, ask questions and listen to what she and the other committee members are thinking.
There is no magic here. If you read all the messages in this discussion you will see what she is proposing. A legal bike lane must comply with Maryland design rules. Pattie knows what they are. what she proposes is a four foot wide bicycle path. It would require narrowing the motor vehicle lane width and reducing the speed limit. It would also require no parking. I addresses all this in another post. Have you read it? As for your research, I posted a link to the state design rules. As for what board members signed, perhaps the language was not all that clear. My prediction? There will be no Maryland approved bicycle lane on the Parkway. |

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: k, good to know. i'll try to do due diligence and research the other side of issues you post about before coming to decisions. as for patti, it seems you're stuck on the thought that the width of the parkway can't be made wider and you can't think of any other option. I'm suggesting that patti has an idea for how to make the bike lanes a reality. i don't know what it is because i haven't dug into it, but now i'm really going to have to do the work, reach out, ask questions and listen to what she and the other committee members are thinking. jackie |
