I may be in the minority but I believe that board members have an obligation to do the homework and study the board packages before the meeting. Just not sit there and wait to be told what they should vote for.
Ed, these amenity prices are certainly of some importance but all of them are a rather minor part of the budget. I suspect the vast majority of association members do not even consider amenity rates and are more focused on the assessment rate - down by $300 or so recently and benefits every member. PERSPECTIVE is needed. What is the basis of your accusation that board members just sit there and wait to be told what they should vote for? Who is this person or persons with the power to tell board members how to vote? |

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: You are right that I started the forum discussion and I'm still not satisfied that the board spent any time considering these racquet changes, or marina, parking, aquatics as well. I may be in the minority but I believe that board members have an obligation to do the homework and study the board packages before the meeting. Just not sit there and wait to be told what they should vote for. No one forced you to run for a board seat. It's an obligation, not a privilege. Ask questions of management. That's your obligation to the members. This last merry go round was an embarrassment and totally unnecessary. |
