Perhaps the recount does not need to include verification of section and lot number for each paper ballot and a simple manual count of Candidate A, B, C, etc. from each paper ballot will suffice. The point is, to which I think you agree, is that the software to be selected by the Election Committee to handle both paper ballots and internet voting have an audit trail that will stand up to the challenge of a recount request. | ||||||

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: Ken, I went back and reread what you wrote. I agree with everything except it is a secret ballot and once the ballots are separated from the envelopes you can't see how each lot voted. Just the vote itself. You can see which lot voted but not how they voted. You can see how each ballot voted but not which lot it came from. George |
