For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: Suppose there are two open board positions and the two highest vote getters are separated by one or two votes, or even a tie. Do we simply accept the numbers from some Internet site as gospel with no way to verify? We should have no process without paper. Backup that can be recounted. "Recounted" is the bottom line. The by-laws allow a candidate to request a recount. For paper ballots, I would trust the individual(s) doing the recount to look at each ballot and verify "Section 2, lot 29 voted for candidates A and B"....... "Section 4, lot 40 voted for candidates B and C"....... and so on. You can't possibly satisfy the by-laws without doing the exact same thing for internet ballots as described above for paper ballots. Find a system that can do that and conform with the by-laws before introducing internet balloting for the August 2024 board election. |
