You and the others know better than me but hear me out on this.
I get instructions from the Elections Committee to go to this internet site to cast my electronic vote. My instructions include entering my Section and lot number. So, I type in "Section 5 lot 23" and then I cast my vote for Candidates B and D. So, 500 other OPA lot owners follow the same instructions. Are you telling me the software cannot produce a written report listing all 500 OPA internet ballots where the tally for each candidate matches what the computer tells the Committee? Perhaps we should not get hung up on ballot secrecy. Or, since our elections rules provides for mailing contractors and software consultants choose one of them to certify the paper report. |

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: Ken, You are correct. However there is no known internet voting system that can produce a 1st person ballot such as a paper ballot to do a recount. The state of Maryland use to use touch screen electronic voting but there was no 1st person ballot back up for recount so we have gone back to paper ballots in Maryland. Also 6 or more countries that tried internet voting have all gone back to paper ballots because it was so unreliable. Also very easy to hack . George |
