sure, close it down the simple fix . . . and an admission of failure and incompetence. after an approx. 5 mil investment, the best answer we can come up with is lock out the property owners who paid for the building for 8 months a year. disgraceful.
Shutting down the YC during the winter months is not something I have advocated. That is something Marty Clarke and others on the forum have advocated. Why do you think their position is disgraceful? I was simply asking if you concurred with their opinion to shut down the YC over winter months and take the approximately $200,000 profit the YC had made as of the end of September. |

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: Many on the forum say that the YC would be very profitable if the facility was simply closed over the winter season. Making money at the YC does not seem to be a problem when OP is full of people for the season. Would you, if elected, support closing the YC from the end of September until the first of April? sure, close it down the simple fix . . . and an admission of failure and incompetence. after an approx. 5 mil investment, the best answer we can come up with is lock out the property owners who paid for the building for 8 months a year. disgraceful. how bout we actually make it a place where year round residents want to patronize, even if it is open only weekends? at this point, with the micro-bar and bingo hall ambiance, that is almost impossible. during the winter the sunset grill, oc fish, harborside, taylor whiskers and soon the south gate grill are all populated by ocean pines residents. people travel outside the pines rather than go to the place in their own community because - - as someone I was talking to in the south gate grill said to me - - "there's no reason to go there". if you are advocating shutting it down then you are admitting that is that has failed as investment, and I agree with you . . . an HOA should not be running a multi-million dollar business. did you ever wonder who in the administration decided to proceed with the project knowing that our seating was to be severly curtailed because of county parking restictions? did the GM say, ok, so we can't service the patio (prob a six figure patio at that) so we'll just scatter trailer park furniture in front of the bands to accommodate folks who come for a free concert. we cannot offer wait service on one inch of that patio, do you call that well-planned? the only functional purpose that patio serves is as a venue for wedding ceremonies. the marketing/salesmanship of the GM that led to the referendum being passed was masterful . . . and that's where the YC success story ends. steve lind |
