House Bill # 1553 asking for a percentage of slots money for Ocean Pines got through the Rules Committee yesteday afternoon...March 16. It has been sent over to the Ways and Means Committee but no hearing date has been set. Del. Sheila Hixson D- Montgomery County is the Chairman of that committee and there are plenty of Ocean Pines property owners from that county who should contact her if they are interested in OP getting its fair share. Norm Conway's secretary suggests that a letter be written from Ocean Pines to Sheila Hixson regarding this bill. I guess C.O.P.E. will have to do that, since the BoD does not wish to do so. For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: Well, some said it would never happen. Mathias, Conway and Elmore just introduced a bill to change the slots money distribution in Worcester County. It reduces the county amount to 60% and adds OPA to receive 10%. Passage, of course, remains to be see. However, if the local representatives really support this there is no reason for other state delegates to oppose.
