I pick up my mail next to a home with a couple of youngsters and I've seen their pit bull/s loose on the property. My undeerstanding of the leash law it that it only applies to "off" property. I'm wondering too why the state police were handling this and not the OP police. I've thought about that myself. Does Ocean Pines still have an Animal Control Officer? I beleive one officer retired and his replacement quit but I don't know if the position was filled again. Firing a revolver at a dog in a residential neighborhood isn't the safest thing in the word to do either, but the officer probably felt he had no other option. That is a little scary. Especially with the news report stating mutliple shots was fired. Norm |

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: Sorry, but I'm not familiar with those laws. A fellow approached me at lunch yesterday and brought up this issue. He suggested OPA try and do something about pit bulls in the DRs. I have no idea if that is possible.
