The covered or screened idea is pretty commonplace down here. Back when Rod Murray was the OP Police Chief he informed me that in OP placing a cover over a vehicle in the yard (didn't care about with or without tags) was sufficent to keep it from being cited as abandoned or junk. He also stated that while parking on the street was generally considered a no-no...the police didn't bother people who were parked there for a limited time to attend social gatherings, etc. It appears attitudes about such things have changed over the years. |

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: Jack, as it happens I see an article on page 19 of the current Shore Progress about a property in Pocomoke that came before the County Commissioners at a public hearing with many items of non-compliance, including untagged vehicles. Apparently the property owner has complied. However, one interesting tidbit in the the article is a statement by Ed Tudor, county director of the Department of Review and Permitting. In reference to an untagged pickup truck Tudor said ".. an untagged pickup truck can stay on the site as long as it is covered or screened." |
