Ed There was in fact a pig farm as you came out the North Gate and turned right. A lawyer named Rabineau owned property right of the North Gate and wanted to rezone commercial and do a strip mall office type complex. The Association fought the rezoning and won so Mr. Rabineau said then I'll put a pig farm there and he did. The pigs got out many times destroying landscaping of several homes near the north gate and interrupted a outdoor wedding on the first street on the left as you come in the north gate. The State Police were called several times to round up the pigs back to their enclosure. The only thing OPA could do was take them to court on a nuisance charge. We had quite a time with this problem on many occasions. Phyllis |

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: I SEEM TO RECALL THAT, SEVERAL YEARS AGO, THERE WAS WHAT WAS, PRESUMABLY, A "PIG FARM" LOCATED JUST NORTH OF THE ROUTE #90 OFF RAMP ON RT. 589. WAS THIS, IN FACT, A "PIG FARM"? I'VE BEEN TOLD IT WAS A FORM OF PROTEST BY SOMEONE. DOES ANYBODY KNOW THE STORY? |
