Pintail does have the parking, and a porta potty but the current dock is not good (IMHO). A floating dock made specificall for kayak/canoe launching would help. There are a variety, even handicap accessible ones. Launching from a traditional dock can be problematic unless you have really good upper body strength. It depends how high above the water line the dock is...which leads to how far you have to drop down into your boat or how high you have to climb up to get out of your boat.
I've used some of the floating docks at the state parks. 1. the black plastic they are made of gets VERY VERY HOT! 2. I've noticed several are not stable for walking on or have a narrow walkway. Given a choice I'd take the boat ramp over the floating dock due to the chance of burning my skin or falling off of it. M/R |

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: Those boat ramps are really dangerous as they are usually algae covered and VERY SLIPPERY to walk on to get the boats in/out and to get into and out of the boats. I am not sure why a few of us were discussing kayak launch sites recently since none of the group kayak but in the conversation, relative to Ocean Pines locations, we talked about Pintail Park as a good kayak launch site. It has parking and we thought that a floating dock alongside the existing dock would provide a good launch area. your comments above made me wonder if a floating launch dock would present the same problem as a ramp.
