Mr. Clarke, in politics a “gadfly” is someone who challenges authority, questions the status quo, and provokes thoughtful debate often to the discomfort of those in power. Far from a liability, that voice is exactly what this Board needs when discussion is scarce, research is limited and community input is minimal.
Gadflies hold Directors accountable with evidence-based questions and critique, willing to withstand the backlash and attacks from a Board majority. Gadflies foster civic engagement by demanding information, transparency and open dialogue. They often bring up issues ignored by the Board. Finally, Gadflies drive change through persistence, principal and a steadfast commitment to better governance for the Community. Thank you for re-iterating the heart of my campaign: more community input and transparency, the need for research and data in decision making, a commitment to common sense governance that listens and fiscal conservatism. |

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: Joe: ”he should not be so publicly attacking Candidate Amy Peck over it.” I have not done anything of the kind and you know it. “attacking Candidate Amy Peck”? I understand you’d like to see another gadfly sitting on the board to generate confrontation but your support of Peck and your criticism of Lakernick is obvious, and becoming quite tedious. Marty |
