No notes? They just make this stuff up? In a lengthy email thread, Director John Latham instructed the Election Chair that forum guidelines should be “crystal” clear for candidates to which the Chair replied what did he mean by format?

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: I received the same signage information as Steve. The Election Committee’s communications have been piecemeal. . In a lengthy email thread, Director John Latham instructed the Election Chair that forum guidelines should be “crystal” clear for candidates to which the Chair replied what did he mean by format? It took multiple emails to even figure out if I show up to the forum at 5, 6 or 7. The correct time is 5. The initial instructions were vague, prompting several questions, including whether notes were allowed. In an attempt for clarification, I even attached last year’s instructions for reference. The Committee has since clarified that notes are not permitted for any part of the forum, but they have yet to respond to a separate candidate’s inquiry about taking notes during the event. It also remains unclear whether all candidates have agreed to reduce the suggested question response time from 5 minutes to 3 minutes (last year’s limit was 2 minutes). The questioning format appears to have changed as well. This year, questions will strictly follow ballot order, and candidates may direct questions to any opponent without the previous one-question-per-candidate restriction. As a result, I could receive multiple questions from all incumbents. Additionally, the Election Committee will be asking candidates questions, though it is unclear whether all candidates will receive the same question or if each will be assigned a unique one. Questions submitted from property owners will also be asked (I guess randomly by taking a number by chance) Given these uncertainties, I’m prepared to adapt to whatever unfolds because after all, as you’ve been assured, the Election Committee is doing a great job. |
