Except for last year when the Board, at the last minute amending the agenda, passed a Budget that ignored the GM, the committees and the operations team and did not raise membership rates as advised. Not raising boat slip rates considering the long wait list and what other Marinas are charging was particularly puzzling. Marina numbers which took a hit due to weather could've been improved had the rates been raised. I seem to recall a Director saying the price of eggs went up thus arguing boat owners needed a break

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: I don’t pay too much attention to the budget at the committee level but wait until the board reviews the budget. That is the only one that counts. Of course, every year when all is said and done, the budget is little changed from what the GM proposes after review by both the committee and the board - in terms of the big financial picture. OPA has been planning to cover cost of new FD equipment for some time. |
