Yes, absolutely a journalist should look into it -- but not publish the interview without having also interviewed or tried to interview everyone mentioned and anyone else who might corroborate or dispute Tarr's claims and suspicions. As it stands, the podcast is a totally subjective first-person account, based in large part on rumors and heresy, by someone with an axe to grind. It's compelling, but it's not journalism. |

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: My question is why wouldn’t you look into these claims if you are a journalist? Is the department down 11? Which I can verify personally that in fact Ocean Pines has got a bad reputation and a lot of people have reconsidered working for the Pines BECAUSE of the investigation and long before Sgt Tarr did this podcast. So really I think you are writing about the wrong thing. Plus where did he trash just about everyone? I’m a little confused on that statement. Sure some of the board members but as far as people he actually worked with? You made this article sound like he went down the line and spoke about everyone….fake news and poor journalism….do better and actually look into his account…prove him wrong if you think he is. I can’t stand lazy journalism, where someone just writes something to “grab attention “ instead of actually putting in the work. |
