One lot one vote with traceability is the ultimate goal, no matter how the vote is cast.
I have to wonder how a paper trail is even possible with internet voting. Sure, Internet voting is possible but that does not mean it must be used. If internet voting is so safe and secure, why is it not used in national elections? We shoukd have no process without paper. Backup that can be recounted. For example, suppose there are two board positions open and the two highest vote getters are separated by one or two votes, or even a tie. Do we simply accept the numbers from some Internet site as gospel with no way to verify? Electing board members to run our HOA with an $18 million budget should not be accomplished like a Monkey poll. OPA should protect the election process. A paper trail should be mandatory. I was at the meeting when the Horn presidency board approved internet voting. What transpired was a disgrace. |

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: Joe. I know you are not a proponent of internet voting, either am I. I do think it will be an option in the future but I hope that the election committee and the board just don't jump in like was done in the last election and really investigate how other HOAs do it successfully and wait to implement it when all the kinks are worked out The one ballot for multiple lot scenario was a disaster and should never happen My suggestion is to take lessons learned and really investigate the software implications before it is even considered again. One lot one vote with traceability is the ultimate goal, no matter how the vote is cast. John |
