Joe, Thanks for responding. To me, it feels like Colby's resignation and all the secrecy and back-and-forth surrounding it might have finally energized more people to speak up about a number of issues. It's very sad that "the board could care less." I hope the FB group creates the positive momentum that it seeks to. You've lived here for a long time. I remember you and my father, Tom Kessler, fighting the development across Manklin Creek. I don't recall this negativity. What happened? | ||||||

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: Joe, you freely criticize the OP board and often it is from you that I learn what's going on. I appreciate you taking the time to dissect the issues. So, why criticize others for calling the board members out when they don't represent our best interests? Your comment, "What sways board actions are board members, in particular, any four board members (two seats up for grabs this August). Diller knows this. Those joining her group do not," is insulting to everyone who has taken the time to be a part of the FB group and are trying to make an effort to create some positive momentum. Will it work? Who knows. What would you do in this situation? Hi Lynn, my opinions are based on what I believe is taking place behind the scenes, not what Esther Diller or some group says publicly. I don't think it is insulting to suggest that many people joining the group are not aware of the behind-the-scene goals. Look, the fact that Doug Parks asked Esther to write directly to the board is just another "tell" adding weight to my opinion. I have followed this stuff closely for over 30 years. You can accept my opinion or not, and it won't hurt my feelings if you don't. We will not know for certain until after the election. Let's see what happens and if my opinion holds - depending on the election outcome, of course. I will say again, as someone who has probably made more public comments than anyone in OPA history, public comments do not impact board policy or board decisions. Might make the speaker feel better What would I do in this situation? What situation? This was all sparked by Colby's resignation. Those who liked and supported her are angry, very angry. If she had not resigned I doubt as many would be joining, or even if the group would exist. As I wrote previously, I was disappointed to see Colby become involved in any way with board politics after resigning. If I wanted to do something to change how the board operated or board policy I would focus 100% on board elections. The reality is, that is exactly what is happening behind the scene. All the public comments stuff is meaningless fluff that will not change what the board does. Change can only be effected by a change in the board members. Esther Diller knows this; Colby Phillips knows this; Doug Parks knows this; Tom Janasek knows this. |
