Steve
As in past campaigns, I believe there are a number of pro-Thompson HOA members who will be contributing money to the campaigns of those candidates they perceive as being in the pro-Thompson camp. I believe some of the contributed money will be used for ads in local papers, but most of the money will be used to independently mail (not part of an OPA mailing) unrestricted campaign literature to reach non-resident OPA members in an effort to sway them to vote for the pro-Thompson candidates. I further believe that most of the candidates perceived to be in the pro-Thompson camp will not be posting extensively on this forum but rather relying on other sources for communicating with the majority of association members such as independent mailings and meet the candidate(s) events. I believe that most candidates extensively posting on this forum seem to be "less committed" to the pro-Thompson camp. However, I wonder if any/all of the latter candidates are planning on independently mailing campaign literature to non-resident members. Again, any candidate can send any literature without limitations (other than the financial costs involved) set by the OPA Election Committee or any other OPA-imposed limitations. Your thoughts? For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: the "like-minded candidates" simply have to publically point out the how damaging carrying on the current policies and procedures are to this community . . . there are candidates who will do that, we all know who they are. now let the public know who they are. in other words, run independently but do not attack each other, because when you attack a like- minded candidate you are diminishing your own message. be aware of the consequences of falling prey to 'divide and conquer'. but because there are several of us running on very similar platforms, mr moran is simply addressing the reality of the situation. plus there is an incumbent running who prob can be included in the 'like-minded' category. (and let's clarify, 'like minded' does not mean agreement on every issue, and it certainly does not indicate a lock-step voting block as the current majority has been, and their hand-picked candidates would continue to be) steve lind p.s. - is mr moran suggesting that folks should drop out? that prob won't happen cause from what I see, those of us like-minded candidates see this as a responsibility. |
