A year before the new Yacht Club construction I met with the GM in his office to look over the drawings. I said then that the tiki bar needed to be in shade of the main structure. He said that was not necessary as he would put some palm trees up for shade. I told him it was a mistake.
Awnings will help but only when the sun is high in the sky. In late afternoon, say around 5 PM when the weekend crowds arrive and the sun is intense, the sun is so low that awnings will not help much. You correctly state, "Another awful mistake in the design of the space." FIVE MILLION DOLLARS |

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: The awnings are for the outside Tiki bar at the YC. Joe Hi Joe, Those awnings are a MUST! The Tiki Bar is situated in a ridiculous place! People cannot be expected to use it if there is no shade. It should have been placed on the shady side just like it was in the past.
