Those little "towns" in Chevy Chase are indeed municipalities. Here is the list of Montgomery county municipalities. I know since doing real estate business there one had to be careful to get those extra documents etc for the contracts. Also, my drivers license says Ocean Pines. We get mail to both OP and Berlin. Bulk mail has pick lists and Berlin or OP show as a second choice for that. Montgomery County has nineteen municipalities: Barnesville; Brookeville; Chevy Chase, Town of ; Chevy Chase View; Chevy Chase Village; Chevy Chase, Village of, Section 3; Chevy Chase, Village of, Section 5; Gaithersburg; Garrett Park; Glen Echo; Kensington; Laytonsville; Martin's Additions; North Chevy Chase; Poolesville; Rockville; Somerset; Takoma Park; and Washington Grove. For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: I am surprised. I have lived in Ocean Pines most of my adult life and I have never seen a Maryland drivers license that indicated an Ocean Pines, MD address. My legal address is Berlin, MD. Ocean Pines is not a "Town" in any sense of the definition. Marty Hi Marty, Didn't you grow up over in or near Chevy Chase? I have never understood all those "towns" in Chevy Chase. I think there are five of them. They couldn't be much more than a few blocks square. What is the purpose of that whole thing? One of them was established as late as 1996. They appear on the listings of towns in Montgomery Co. even though they are all in the same neighborhood. I thought you might know this lore. We only have 3 real towns in MoCo....... Rockville, Takoma Park, and Gaithersburg. maybe Poolesville...not sure. We have always put Ocean Pines, Md. as our address. Our house in not in the city of Berlin. We only share a zip code with them, and we are not within their boundaries. Hope you know the mystery of the many " towns" of Chevy Chase. Nancy |
