Washington Grove was legally 1937 but the town dates to 1812. 555 residents. Looks like it is a historic town designation.
We are from that area and these "towns" are all very different and very interesting. For example, Washington Grove started as a summer church camp. Others may also have historic town designation. Each has its own history and "flavor" It is always fun to read about their "issues" in the towns within the "big town". We lived near Brookeville MD, "Capital for a day". The local politics are alive and well there in all these small municipalities as well as the larger well known ones, such as Rockville City, Takoma Park, Gaitherburg etc. This is actually a missed bit of local signature in our nations capital metro area. It is not just one big blob of humanity. |

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: Thanks for the research. Martin Additions web site says it is celebrating 100 years of self government.
