What does winterization involve? Injecting with Boat/RV water line antifreeze? I guess I won't want a process that I can't do in about 15 minutes as I would want to go to the home every month or two in the winter. I'll just leave the heat on low and see what it comes out on the heating bill. I have gas so it should not be too bad. |

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: If yor turn off your heat in the winter then you should have your home winterized. This can involve more than just shutting off the water at the street. If the pipes throughout your home are not fully drained to could have some serious pipe cracking/leaks when you turn the water on again next spring. Point is, simply turning off the water at the steet and then opening sink valves to drain may not get all the water out of the system. If a freeze cracks a pipe with water in it there will be no flooding problem -- until you turn the water back on at the street. |
