If yor turn off your heat in the winter then you should have your home winterized. This can involve more than just shutting off the water at the street. If the pipes throughout your home are not fully drained to could have some serious pipe cracking/leaks when you turn the water on again next spring. Point is, simply turning off the water at the steet and then opening sink valves to drain may not get all the water out of the system. If a freeze cracks a pipe with water in it there will be no flooding problem -- until you turn the water back on at the street. | ||||||

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: I went to the property today. All was well. I turned the heat on the lowest setting, opend the cabnet doors, turned off the water heater, checked all the faucets/spiggots and then turned the water off and drained. I did not really need the tool to turn the water off but it made things easier. I left the`heat om low because I plan to go there with the family next week. I'd like to leave it off after that for the winter.
Thanks all. |
