We must have read different newspaper articles? I see a member of the Ocean Pines Association, Inc. trying to enjoy his property rights and is willing to take the necessary steps to help protect those rights for the majority of his neighbors. My comment, with which you have issue, had to do with the gentleman saying it was more convenient for him to keep the trailer at his home in the Pines. Here is the section from the newspaper article on which I based my comment. John Abent, pastor of Faith Baptist Church in Berlin, has moved the box trailer containing his flight simulator to his church after Ocean Pines officials ruled it was in violation of the OPA's Declaration of Restrictions. The regulations only permit storage trailers like Abent's to be on a lot temporarily, such as during construction. "I think it's unfair," said Abent, who has been battling Ocean Pines officials over the trailer since 2006. Abent, who has lived in the Pines for 18 years, uses the box trailer and the simulator inside to educate local children about air and space travel. The simulator is made up of five high-tech computers, which require frequent software updates, Abent said. While he used to work on the simulator in the evenings at his home -- when its trailer was on his lot -- now he must travel to his church to work on it. He says the travel time is more difficult because he does not have access to the Internet there. "I really do need it here (at home)," Abent said. "It's convenient for me." You may see a member of OPA enjoying his property rights but there is no carte blanche in a HOA. There are rules that need to be enforced. This is one rule where you obviously disagree and perhaps your placing the trailer in your driveway will help clarify what the DRs actually mean in reference to trailers. |

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: Jack: We must have read different newspaper articles? I see a member of the Ocean Pines Association, Inc. trying to enjoy his property rights and is willing to take the necessary steps to help protect those rights for the majority of his neighbors. For the record, I am in total support of the Pastor's property rights and will do everything in my power to help him prevail against this "BS" prosecution by the help (ECC). Marty |
