Phyllis, Some of your thoughts and ideas on O.P representation by our commissioners can be effected by the simple fact that one of them is new to the seat and the other is only been there for only several years. It is common that when any person is elected to a political body like the County Commissioners spot that they want to "fit in" with their fellow commissioners. Not wanting to "make waves" is the normal position. There are several long term, very strong personalities who have a lot of clout at the same table with you..If you are not a strong, open and forceable, you can get overridden and eaten alive by some others. You have to remember that you are there for only one reason and that is to do your best for Ocean Pines and be aware that people are watching. Are you there to work or retire?.. What happens in Snow Hill does effect us in the Pines but only if there fighters who were have elected. I believe that we have to take a fresh approach to how we present ourselves ( Pines residents and voters ) to Snow Hill. I really don't want to see slots sown the road but I am afraid that most of that decision will be out of our hands. If Slots, come we better have some "Junk yard Dogs" representing Ocean Pines as County Commissioners. Ray |

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: The Commissioners already know how much revenue come out of OP. Of course they do. And I know that in the past they have tried to keep that fact from the public by saying that it is combined with other areas. Really. I am not making this up. It has taked a good deal of quesitoning to get them to finally reveal this information. The thing is, the commisisoners know how much money they are getting from Ocean Pines, but to the rest of the people know? Do the residents of Ocean Pnes know? Do the people who live in Snow Hill Know? If the citizens of the northern area of the county knew these numbers maybe they would become indignant and take some action, like demanding their share. |
