Jack , agree with you completely. Safety is an issue and this would serve only a few at the expense of many. Like you, Jack, sounds like fun but not practical for Ocean Pines. In addidtion, changing from 30 to 35 is a BIG deal to me! Lou Etta McClaflin |

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: I know Worcester County owns the roads now but Jimmy Bunting and gang will agree if we want it to fly. I have always been a fan of innovative ideas but since you are looking for some feedback and discussion let me play devils advocate for a bit. Have you considered the demographics of Ocean Pines? This is not the Villages which, for the most part, is a retirement community pre planned for carts. Most younger families in the Pines need 2 cars and I doubt would be adding a golf cart, especially an expensive road legal one. As I am sure you know the Villages maintains a separate golf cart path for the residents. To drive a golf cart on the road it needs to be the modified variety which is not inexpensive. Ocean Pines would not be able to have a dedicated golf cart path which means, as you are proposing, that the main roads would have golf carts and vehicles sharing the same space. 30mph may be no big deal in a car but it can be a big deal in a golf cart. Even with dedicated golf cart paths the Villages have their share of golf cart accidents....even though they don't like to promote that. Of course they also have no snow either. Your long list of positives is excellent [a little stretched in a few cases |
