For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: Marty Clarke, the bearer of bad news, told me of the Forum's closing and the last edition of the Progress now on the streets all in one five minute call. This is a double blow to the community that many of us relied upon for the inside story (or at least the well reasoned opinions of the two editors/moderators). These days there seems to be a strong argument for a more forceful, balanced press and less quantity of it. I find it ironic that just a couple of days ago, I made the argument on this forum that we should all pay little attention to the FaceBook type media postings that deal in grudges and paybacks only to find that the two sane alternatives are ceasing publication. O tempora, O mores. |
