Mary, I profess not knowing about county law dealing with outdoor burning, specifically to the question of distance to other buildings which you state as 200 feet which, if correct, is problematic with OPA's open burning allowance. Consider requesting a personal meeting with Worcester County Fire Marshall Matt Owens in Snow Hill. He is easy to find in the county directory. | ||||||

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: Thank you. I have never received a response and I have been a prolific complainer. Prolific complainer or not, homeowners deserve better treatment from the board and staff. For 6+ years I have asked for a copy of an enforcement policy and standards. How much junk is too much? Why is open burning allowed to within 200 feet of an occupied structure in violation of county law and no one can prevent it? Why is a neighbor allowed to keep a barking dog chained in the yard and it’s not considered a nuisance? There are some other conditions that have gone on long enough but I don’t want to go into too much detail in public, but, there should be enforcement of DR’s by tenants, not just owners. I hate to admit it, but, at 73 I don‘t have the energy to go through an ugly trial. I see how poorly this community treats people who just want their rights and I don’t want to deal with the hate.
