They must have seen you coming. ![]() My office was around the corner on Park for over 20 years. I was a regular at the takeout window for a container of their soup. I'd bring a second batch for our administrative assistant. I even brought a container home on the bus...very carefully. The place had a counter service, a formal dining room and a bistro when you could sit down or drink at the bar. I've been known to frequent all three but not simultaneously. One of my banking friends and I spent about three very strong drinks worth there one late afternoon after which I had to guide him to his train. "Dick, I said, you have an Irish mentality but a Jewish constitution." |

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: They had perhaps fifty or more different varieties of oysters from around the world. Only possible in a place like NYC. As I recall, I also had dinner one time in a first floor restaurant associated with the then basement raw bar. Last time I was there was perhaps 30 years or more ago. Had some writer/publisher business at Field & Stream headquarters at Times Square. Somehow ended up eating raw oysters with Les Line, editor of Audubon magazine, and Clare Conley, editor of Outdoor Life magazine. Next time I made it to Manhattan the basement place was closed. |
