You've tried to make two points: since golf was such a drain for so many years, the association should be willing to make less money on pickle ball and that if the fees to outsiders were raised outsiders would play elsewhere.
1.) Until very recently and possibly again in the future, golf has been a drain. That doesn't make it a strong argument on behalf of the pickle ball revenue debate . Association members have screamed about golf losses for years with many calling for it to be made park land. We have also complained about the sweetheart deals of guaranteed early tee times that have discouraged outside play in the past. And then there's those lifetime memberships that were offered to goose up one year's revenue at the expense of the future income and availability of tee times. So we have a right to point out that some aspects of the racket sports fee schedule are out of wack. 2.) The pickle ball group has put together an impressive calendar of tournaments during the year and are to be congratulated. I'm sure the full time staff is called on to support those weekend events and the rest of us put up with the resultant parking mess with few complaints. If outsiders have the similar competitive events and support elsewhere in the area and participate for less money, good for them...and us. I learned long ago, you can't be all things to all people. It's a recipe for failure. (Take that from a bankruptcy trustee.) |

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: Yet with more and more places to play in the area those outsiders may just choose to do that. |
