The question is when was platform moved from Swim & Racquet to Manklin. I don’t recall it being there in the early 90s. Platform was never an issue and had relatively few players. The turf wars among player groups began with the arrival of the pickleballers, sometime around 2010. I think Thompson was GM. Kerry left around that time. | ||||||

I believe that platform, albeit fewer courts, was well established before pickle was established. Initially by making several of the tennis hard courts available for pickle. This was done with portable nets allowing two pickle courts on one hard surface tennis court. Joe believes that the good old days existed with only tennis at Manklin. I believe that platform and tennis coexisted peacefully for some period until the advent of pickle. I have no idea of what the charge for platform was at that time. Since they were the old courts moved from the North side, they may have been minimal. |
