Joe:
I can’t be any more specific. I believe our pools should be private because I believe we will save money on operations. I believe that being a 501c3 or 4 doesn’t matter and that designation could be changed easily and for less than $1,000 in accounting workload. Marty |

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: Not “ambiguous“ at all. Renters of property in Ocean Pines would not be “general public” and thus wouldn’t trigger those lifeguard restrictions. Please follow the discussion. some posters want to eliminate short term renters from member rates. This would, at a minimum, require a Charter change. You really don’t want to acknowledge that our pools are open to the general public so long as OPA is 501c4 tax exempt organization, and thus subject to public lifeguard requirements At this point I have no idea what you think OPA should do. Tell us. Get rid of lifeguards? Have fewer guards that a public pool requires? Get rid of 501c4, or what? I believe our pools must be open to the general public so long as OPA is 501c4, and staffed with lifeguards to meet Maryland law. What is your position? Be specific. |
