“Even with the lifeguard pay increase for this year, it's quite a bit less than kids are making between hourly pay/tips that they earn at restaurants. My 16 year old would be taking about a $4/hour pay cut to become a lifeguard.”
Exactly this. A sixteen year old kid can make several hundred dollars’ cash working as a busser or barback per shift, plus a paycheck. I don’t know what OP offers to lifeguard, but it clearly isn’t in the realm of “competitive.” |
