Joe:
”I question whether or not a private, for-profit corporation can legally have a state-sanctioned official police department.“ There you go, another $1.4 Million Dollars in savings identified. That could reduce our assessment by approximately $160.00 each we are currently paying for police above and beyond our neighbors like River Run, Glen Riddle and Pennington Commons. Marty |

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: The only real money we receive from the county goes to police and fire department. You can’t possibly be insinuating that would go away if we were a private gated community. I question whether or not a private, for-profit corporation can legally have a state-sanctioned official police department. Does OPA receive money for the fire department or does the County provide that money to the independent OPVFD corporation? The Ocean Pines Association requested $1.87 million from the County this year, close to $200,000 more than its fiscal year 2023 total. How much did the County give to Riddle Farms last year, or River Run, etc? You failed to mention the $400,000 for slots money. Marty, you keep bringing up this going-private nonsense from time to time. Interesting discussion but it will not happen. |
