Lets hope the debate over changing, away from police checking people in, turns out to be a short lived tempest in a teapot.
Did you not read that Rick posted the police will not be checking IDs going forward? BUT Let's still be cautious, with police still available for security at the meetings. Did you not read that having a police presence at meetings for security is not an issue? Perhaps those who infrequently attend meetings are not aware that the board had had a police officer present at nearly every meeting for a year or more. |

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: Thanks for your message today, showing how the situation has now been resolved, with an OP employee checking folks into future meetings. Our thanks go to you, Rick. Great that you're communicating with the community. Again, our family is sorry that some few individuals issued threats to you and others on the OP board. There's no excuse for harassment and threats. And kudos to the whole board for continuing to serve under these circumstances. With all those threats occurring, we'd view the board's earlier decision as very understandable, and very wise -- to have police monitoring the attendance. Lets hope the debate over changing, away from police checking people in, turns out to be a short lived tempest in a teapot.
