Where do you separate the ‘angry mob’ from what the family is sponsoring? When my son died, it was not at the hands of another. If someone had hit him, left him to die, then acted like nothing to see here, I’m not sure how I, or those supporting me, would have reacted/acted.
Should they not boycott the restaurants? Make stickers, posters, t-shirts? Call people out? There are always a few ‘over the top’ people. Don’t lump everyone in with them as if they are one…an angry mob as you say. There are also enough people going to their ‘Justice/Do it for Gavin’ pages just to tell them to back down on boycotting restaurants and picketing bc it won’t bring Gavin back. Actions have consequences. There’s the accident and there’s the way Matt Ortt Companies has handled the aftermath. Apparently activism is working since MOC and DeAngelus and ‘those alleged to be involved’ have parted ways. Then the people saying he who is without sin…everyone makes mistakes. I doubt many people’s ‘sins’ result in the death of another. All of the sudden discussion is not allowed? I‘m not personally involved in any of it other than offering my empathy, sympathy and support to the family from afar. I don’t know any of the players. I’ve never stepped foot in a MOC amenity before. The people saying stop what you’re doing, it won’t bring Gavin back are not supporting the family in a helpful way either. Something to think about. |

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: I agree with you. The family needs to heal and the crowd behind this movement is pushing anger and hatred. Everything about this situation is heartbreaking. Anyone of us could have been the players in this tragic event, on either side. This investigation could take several more months and I think the community could help the Knupp family more with positive acts to remember Gavin. Justice will prevail. I lost a child many years ago and my friends, family and community helped me through my grief by remembering my daughter and supporting us. I needed to work through my anger and it wouldn’t have helped me to have an angry mob keeping me in that stage. It’s destructive and won’t bring Gavin back. |
