I suggest those writing not mention HOA, and not say anything about whether OC and Berlin will have negative or positive impacts. "Ocean Pines is the largest population center in Worcester County with as many registered voters as Ocean City and Berlin combined; it is also the nearest large community to the slots location at Delmarva Downs." |

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: Nancy: I just sent this email to Delegate Hixson. I think it would be a good idea if all OPiners who agree would also send Delegate Hixson a similar message. We can do this!
Dear Delegate Hixson:
I am delighted that House Bill 1553 has progressed through the Rules Committee and is now on its way to Ways and Means.
The members of C.O.P.E (Citizens for Ocean Pines Equity) have been actively engaged in obtaining an equitable distribution of impact funds for Ocean Pines for some time. Although we are a homeowner's association, we are the largest demographic community in Worcester County, and we will be the community most effected by slots at Route 50 and Route 589 because of our location.
Both of the other communities, Ocean City and Berlin, who were mentioned in the original legislation to receive specific impact monies, will no doubt benefit by slots in Worcester County.
We ask your continued support of HB 1553 so that justice and equity can be served for the voters of Ocean Pines.
I would very much appreciate your informing me of the hearing date on this legislation. Thank you.
