I asked a mutual friend to make an educated guess and he was unable to do so. He reminded me that the current system came about because of inequities in minority representation. The changes were mandated by the Federal Courts and any law suit would have to originate in Federal Court or ultimately end up there. All of that being very costly and unlikely to be successful in view of the original intent. | ||||||

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: I suspect it could cost a great deal. Wild guess? $50,000 to start and much more as the county would likely appeal any initial favorable decison for those bringing the case. I'm have no idea as to the legal aspects of even beginning such a case, or the legal basis. There would need to be a legal basis of some sort to show the current system is inequiatable. I'd assume the commissioners could make the change thmselves and then face any claims by those opposed. Of course the commissioners are not likley to make such a change. |
