There is a fair chance that Ocean Pines as a Municipality may have had to be included along with Berlin and Ocean City. Jack, There is no question that had OP been a municipality Mathias would have added our % into the bill. None. Were we a municipality, however, we would have a city tax to support the mayor, his staff, and all of that. There certainly is some merit to that issue. I believe the cons outweigh the pros, but if Stachurski follows through on his stated intention of looking into it, I will follow it closely. |

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: It is interesting to note that some here seem to want the benefits of being a municipality without really being one. It is hard to have it both ways. An excellent point and I could not help thinking throughout this discussion how the slots issue had lent some support to those who are in favor of Ocean Pines going the Municipality route. There is a fair chance that Ocean Pines as a Municipality may have had to be included along with Berlin and Ocean City. I still favor staying a HOA but I expect if slots go through we will be hearing that mantra for some time to come. |
