Tony: If you had any idea what you were talking about you would be dangerous. Members of the OPA board had expressed an interest, in a public meeting, about the development of the Beach Club. One director had actually spoken to a real estate developer about the possibility of a joint venture. That same board also had applied for a permit to develop a commercial marina at the Swim & Racquet Club. I stand behind the post card and its message. The only argument made by me or S. T. O. P. in our petition drive or legal action was the board's non compliance with our by laws, not the proposed location of the building. Help me understand. What has the Sports Core property got to do with the developer owned ground at the North Gate better known as the Ocean Pines Pig Farm? Marty |

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: Marty, So why would you create a postcard asking "What's Next?" and pointing to the S&R Club and Beach Club? The implication is that if we let the Sports Core get developed, other more "revered" areas might be next. A big argument for the NO side was that the Sports Core should remain open space. Why was Sports Core development not so good for a community center, but so good for a commerical center? Was it a case where you were so against the Sports Core Community Center that you used "any means necessary" (including apparent hypocrisy) to defeat it? |
