I see this is an older thread, however feeling like this needs to be brought back to the table. I think the pros outweigh the cons. we already have a lot of electric modes for mobility. Whether it is bikes or scooters. There is for sure a revenue value but also an open air freedom, almost motorcycle like feeling when getting around by golf cart. Also greatly reducing carbon footprint. Low speed vehicles are allowed on any street in MD with a speed limit rating of 30MPH or less. Considering the roads are HOA owned and regulated, I don’t know that speed limit would need to be lowered but not opposed to that. | ||||||

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: Sir, Maryland DOT has the means to do it legally. It's our streets that are listed at 35 mph that make it illegal. Technically, you are allowed on the streets rated at 25 mpg, but at some point you have to cross the 35 mph roads at intersections. Having said that if you use the golf course path you can get around a lot of ocean pines without being on a 35 mph road. IJS. Works well at river run and glen riddle. Bill. |
